Wheel-lift towing. Tight spaces, handled cleanly.
For a standard sedan stuck in a cramped apartment garage or downtown drive-through lot, we can match you with an independent operator using a wheel-lift truck. It takes up less space than a flatbed, hooks up faster, and works cleanly with properly equipped vehicles. Modern hydraulic wheel-lift trucks are rated for sedans, trucks, and most SUVs up to 7,500 pounds.
What's included in this service?
- Hydraulic wheel-lift on compact tow trucks
- Rated vehicles with either rear- or front-wheel drive
- Access to apartment garages, underground parking, tight lots
- Quick hook-ups (under 5 minutes on most vehicles)
- Nearby transport to your home, dealer, or body shop
- Dead-battery jump-start and tow when the vehicle won’t idle
- Shop-arranged drop-offs at body shops and storage lots
- Backup option when a flatbed is too large for the space
When do you need this service?
- Your vehicle is a standard RWD or FWD sedan, not AWD or EV
- You’re in a tight alley or a garage with low clearance
- You need a fast, short-distance move to a shop
- Your battery is dead, and you need a jump plus a tow
- Transmission or brake lock prevents the sedan from rolling
- Confined lot that a full-size flatbed can’t maneuver through
Houston questions about Wheel-Lift
What is wheel-lift towing?
With a wheel-lift truck, a steel yoke fits beneath the drive wheels and raises one end of the vehicle while the opposite end travels on its own wheels. This setup works faster than a flatbed and can enter cramped lots a flatbed cannot access.
Is wheel-lift safe for my car?
Yes, for typical FWD or RWD sedans. Never use one for AWD, 4WD, or any EV - request a flatbed instead. Turning the driveshaft or pulling drive motors can create costly internal damage when all four wheels are driven or motored. If you aren’t certain, the referral line will answer honestly.
Can you fit into an apartment garage?
In most cases, yes. The majority of wheel-lift trucks in the network fit under 6’8". When calling, text a picture of the garage entrance so clearance can be checked before an operator is matched. Certain downtown buildings limited to 6’0" need a specialty mini-truck - the line can make that match.
How much does wheel-lift towing cost?
Wheel-lift service uses the standard light-duty rate. The operator determines the price and gives you the complete amount before sending the truck. A shorter move generally costs less because it covers fewer miles.
Can a matched operator tow it if a jump fails?
Yes. A battery is often only drained, so a fast jump may solve the problem without a tow. When the alternator has failed or the engine cannot keep a charge, the driver can jump the vehicle to load it on the truck and tow it. Ask the operator for the combined-call price.
