Can you tow my Tesla in Houston?

Are a wheel lift or dolly suitable for towing a Tesla?

No. Tesla’s owner manual warns that using a wheel lift, or moving the vehicle with either the front or rear wheels down, may harm the drive unit motors, even on a short trip. Our dispatch policy excludes wheel-lift service for EVs. An operator suggesting otherwise is misinformed or prepared to leave you responsible for the repairs.

How do I put my Tesla in Transport Mode?

Open Touchscreen → Service → Towing, then press and hold "Transport Mode" until you see the message. This lets the car roll without regen, auto-park, or parking-pawl engagement. Transport Mode won’t work with a dead 12V battery, so the matched operator follows Tesla’s manual wheel-release procedure instead. When you call, our dispatcher guides you through either option.

What if my 12V battery is dead in my Tesla?

A frequent issue is that a Tesla’s 12V battery can fail separately from the main pack, leaving the vehicle locked up. For many models, the matched driver can jump the 12V on site, often avoiding a tow. It’s in the frunk on Model 3/Y and behind the rear seat on Model S/X. If the jump doesn’t revive the car, an independent operator can flatbed it to your service center.
